Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas Part Three

Lamar Hunt Jr. and Loretto Foundation continue to support Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas due to their level of service to the community. Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas has a Three Pillars mission. The third pillar is Healthcare. As stated on their website, “We realize that when our community neighbors are sick or in need of healthcare, there’s not always somewhere to turn. Our healthcare programs and services offer compassionate care for patients and families of all ages and stages from new mothers to the elderly.” Hospice care is another service which provides nursing, spiritual and emotional care for those with life-limiting illnesses. Home Support is yet another facet of the Healthcare pillar. Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas states the goal of In-Home Support is to, “promote clients’ independence and well-being outside of an institution, In-Home Support supplies clients’ with a range of services from personal care tasks, to household chores, and engaging the client in mental stimulation.” Finally, this charity maintains a Mother and Baby Home Health Program which provides at-risk infants a safe and healthy start to life through the direct in-home, follow-on care of a Registered Nurse after hospital discharge. It also provides new mothers, often with limited experience and lacking outside support, with the information, knowledge and resources to provide their infant a healthy start to life.
